Substitute teaching in Yukon Public Schools: how the Frontline job board works

A plain-English guide for substitutes in Yukon Public Schools (Oklahoma): 12 schools that post sub jobs, when jobs tend to post, how postings are written, and how to get the jobs you want on Frontline.

Yukon Public Schools, in Oklahoma, posts its substitute jobs through Frontline Absence Management (the system many subs still call Aesop). If you're on the sub list here, everything below is about that board: what shows up on it, how it's written, and what it takes to get the jobs you actually want.

Schools that post substitute jobs

We've seen postings from 12 sites in Yukon Public Schools. Exactly as they appear on the board, which matters if you filter by school name:

  • Central Elementary
  • Independence Intermediate
  • Lakeview Intermediate
  • Myers Elementary
  • Parkland Elementary
  • Ranchwood Elementary
  • Redstone Intermediate
  • Shedeck Elementary
  • Skyview Elementary
  • Surrey Hills Elementary
  • Yukon High School
  • Yukon Middle School

Spelling on the board is what counts. A district that writes “ELEM” instead of “Elementary”, or lists a campus under a classified-staff name, will trip up any filter that expects the official name. Copy the names above when you set preferences anywhere.

How Yukon Public Schools writes its postings

Postings here look like this (real titles from the board, teacher names removed):

  • 1st Grade Teacher
  • 2nd Grade Teacher
  • 3rd Grade Teacher
  • 4th Grade Teacher
  • 5th Grade Math/Science Teacher
  • 5th Grade Teacher
  • ABLE Paraeducator
  • ABLE SPED Teacher
  • Art Teacher
  • FCS Teacher
  • Kindergarten Teacher
  • LEAP Math SPED Teacher

Grade levels are written into the title, so you can tell a kindergarten day from a fifth-grade day before you open it. Special-education jobs are labeled, but the label varies (SPED, Sp. Ed, SAI, SDC, ESE). If you want to include or avoid them, know every spelling this district uses.

When jobs post in Yukon Public Schools

A large share of postings here appear the evening before. Of the 38 postings we've tracked in Yukon Public Schools, about 11% first appeared between 4 and 8 AM local time, 42% during the school day, and 47% in the evening or overnight. The single busiest hour was around 11 AM.

79% of those postings were full-day jobs (six hours or more). 74% started by 8 AM. 8% were multi-day assignments.

These numbers come from postings Sub Concierge watched for its members in this district. They describe what we saw, not every job the district ever posted, and they shift with the season.

How to get the jobs you want here

  • Get on the preferred lists. Teachers in Yukon Public Schools can name preferred subs, and preferred subs see a posting before the rest of the list does. A short note to a teacher after a good day is the highest-return thing you can do.
  • Know the board's spelling. School names and titles above are how the district actually writes them. Filters and alerts that don't match the spelling silently miss jobs.
  • Decide your rules once. Which schools, which grades, full-day only or not, how much notice you need. Subs who decide in advance say yes in seconds; subs who decide per posting lose the race.
  • Cancel cleanly. Frontline tracks cancellations, and districts notice. Take fewer jobs and keep them.
