Irvine Unified School District, in California, posts its substitute jobs through Frontline Absence Management (the system many subs still call Aesop). If you're on the sub list here, everything below is about that board: what shows up on it, how it's written, and what it takes to get the jobs you actually want.
Schools that post substitute jobs
We've seen postings from 22 sites in Irvine Unified School District. Exactly as they appear on the board, which matters if you filter by school name:
- Alderwood Elementary
- Beacon Park Elementary
- Beacon Park Middle School
- Bonita Canyon Elementary
- Canyon View Elementary
- Culverdale Elementary
- Cypress Village Elementary
- Irvine High School
- Jeffrey Trail Middle School
- Northwood High School
- Oak Creek Elementary
- Portola High School
- Portola Springs
- Rancho San Joaquin Middle School
- Sierra Vista Middle School
- Solis Park Elementary
- South Lake Middle School
- Special Education Adult Transition
- University High School
- Venado Middle School
- Westpark Elementary
- Woodbridge High School
Spelling on the board is what counts. A district that writes “ELEM” instead of “Elementary”, or lists a campus under a classified-staff name, will trip up any filter that expects the official name. Copy the names above when you set preferences anywhere.
How Irvine Unified School District writes its postings
Every Frontline district writes its posting titles its own way: some put the grade in the title (“Grade 5”, “TK Teacher”), some only the subject, some only the teacher's name. Aide and assistant jobs share the board with teaching jobs, and special-education jobs are labeled with whichever abbreviation the district settled on years ago. Spend a week reading titles on the Irvine Unified School District board before you decide what to filter on.
When jobs post in Irvine Unified School District
A large share of postings here appear the evening before. Of the 21 postings we've tracked in Irvine Unified School District, about 5% first appeared between 4 and 8 AM local time, 29% during the school day, and 67% in the evening or overnight. The single busiest hour was around 2 PM.
100% of those postings were full-day jobs (six hours or more). 29% started by 8 AM.
These numbers come from postings Sub Concierge watched for its members in this district. They describe what we saw, not every job the district ever posted, and they shift with the season.
How to get the jobs you want here
- Get on the preferred lists. Teachers in Irvine Unified School District can name preferred subs, and preferred subs see a posting before the rest of the list does. A short note to a teacher after a good day is the highest-return thing you can do.
- Know the board's spelling. School names and titles above are how the district actually writes them. Filters and alerts that don't match the spelling silently miss jobs.
- Decide your rules once. Which schools, which grades, full-day only or not, how much notice you need. Subs who decide in advance say yes in seconds; subs who decide per posting lose the race.
- Cancel cleanly. Frontline tracks cancellations, and districts notice. Take fewer jobs and keep them.
